More focus on stress: good for employees and organisations
We believe it is important to conduct scientific research on the use of real-world data, data collected by people in their own living environment, for example with smartwatches. We therefore actively participate in scientific research. And the Healthy Chronos platform is regularly deployed by researchers.
One of the studies we are participating in is the Destress study on early detection and reduction of stress in the workplace. Among other things, through the use of wearables and diary data. The Healthy Chronos platform will be used for this.
Stress is a major threat to the health of individual workers and the functioning of organisations. An organisation can only be resilient if its employees are too. The central question is: can we more effectively identify and address rising stress and risks for stress, both at individual and organisational level? The researchers will find out, but not without also considering employee privacy and other values that matter in the workplace.
What will DESTRESS do?
DESTRESS focuses on reducing stress and increasing resilience in both individual workers and organisations. The aim is to recognise stress early on by cleverly measuring stress signals from the individual and the environment and bringing them together responsibly with Artifical Intelligence (AI) because a lot of stress data needs to be brought together. For this reason, researchers from sociology, law and ethics are also connected. With this approach, workers and employers can work together to tackle stress. DESTRESS thus aims to detect stress proactively, creating a good and joint dialogue between employers and workers. Ultimately, this should ensure that fewer people drop out due to stress, and organisations are able to ensure at an early stage that their employees, and therefore their business, are doing well.
The DESTRESS consortium
DESTRESS is a multidisciplinary consortium of experts who will work together to conduct this research. The consortium represents a wide range of partners and universities, including Amsterdam UMC, Free University Amsterdam (VU), Radboud University, Radboudumc , Donders Institute, TNO, University Medical Centre Utrecht, Hanzehogeschool Groningen and University of Groningen. During the project, experiential knowledge is also used in cooperation with MIND. There are also partners from the field who ensure optimal implementation, including HumanTotalCare, Nationale Nederlanden (NN), Movir, Paradigma Group (DPG), Healthy Chronos and UWV. They ensure that employer and employee are supported in the best possible way to adopt the DESTRESS approach.
